A solo home run in the 4th inning was all the Cookeville Cavaliers needed Wednesday night as they defeated the Warren County Pioneers 1-0 to clinch the District 6AAA championship. The Pioneers will travel to Bradley Central Monday night for the opening round of the Region 3AAA Tournament.
In softball action, the Lady Pioneers defeated Rhea County 10-1, then defeated Cookeville 15-9 to set up another battle with Cookeville Thursday night at 7pm for the District softball championship. The softball tournament is being played at Sparta.
