TWRA Increasing Boating Patrols

The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency aims to step up boater safety ahead of Fourth of July with an increased presence on waterways.
The TWRA will step up boating patrols starting today as part of their 10th annual Operation Dry Water campaign in efforts to reduce alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities. The operation was started in 2009 by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
The TWRA has partnered with the NASBLA and the U.S. Coast Guard to increase enforcement during this time.
The operation takes place every Fourth of July weekend.
Across the state during last year’s Fourth of July weekend TWRA made 13 boating under the Influence arrests.
The TWRA reminds boaters operating a boat with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher, the same limit as driving a car, is illegal in the state of Tennessee.
