The Mega Millions jackpot surpassed a half billion dollars ahead of Tuesday night’s drawing.
Mega Millions announced Monday the jackpot had increased from $493 million to $512 million dollars. The cash value of the jackpot for Tuesday, 24 July was $303.4 million.
This is the fifth largest jackpot in the game’s history and the 11th largest in U.S. lottery history.
The record Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million was shared by winners in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland on March 30, 2012
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 303 million.
Players select five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. There are nine prize tiers, ranging from $2 to the jackpot. Tickets are $2.
