McMinnville Mayor Jimmy Haley Tuesday night announced he will be submitting his letter of resignation by the end of the week. Haley made the announcement at the meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. He will officially assume the duties of County Executive on Saturday. Vice-Mayor Ben Newman will assume the duties of McMinnville Mayor upon Haley’s resignation and will serve in that capacity until the election in November 2020, when Haley’s term would have ended.
In other business, the board approved on final reading the city budget for 2018-19. The budget calls for no tax increase.
