The McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen Tuesday night elected Rachel Hoover Kirby to serve as Aldermen for the next two years. Kirby will serve out the remainder of the term vacated by Ben Newman when Newman became Mayor. She will take the oath of office at the next meeting on October 9th.
In other business, the board approved on final reading an ordinance to appropriate funds to certain nonprofit organizations in the total amount of $318,800. The board also passed a measure to increase budget figures in the general fund and an ordinance to change the speed limit on Highland Drive and a portion of George Huggins Drive from 30 to 20 miles per hour.
