Gas prices in Tennessee rose 6 cents last week. Sunday’s state average of $2.69 per gallon is 9 cents more than a month ago and 29 cents more than this time last year.
AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said motorists are paying higher-than-normal prices at the pump for this time of year. He said global supply and demand concerns continue to weigh on oil prices, which are dragging prices higher as a result.
The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.91, which is an increase of 41 cents a gallon over last year.
