Matheny Elected Sheriff With Narrow Win

Warren Co. voters Thursday elected a new sheriff. Jackie Matheny Jr. defeated the incumbent Tommy Myers 4,432 to 4,345. Matheny will be sworn in September 1. He follows his dads footsteps in the office of sheriff. Jackie Matheny, Sr. Served as sheriff from 1994 until his retirement in 2018.

In other races, Lesa Scott retained County Court Clerk for a fifth term defeating Holly Hodges with 67.5 percent of the vote. In the 43rd district Tennessee House race, Paul Sherrill’s victory in Warren Co. helped him secure the republican nomination over Bobby Robinson. Robinson won Sparta by over 700 votes but Sherrill won in Warren Co. by almost 900.
