A local man was injured Sunday night when he was struck by a vehicle while walking across the Highway 70 Bypass.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Gerald Williams Jr. was walking southbound across the bypass at the intersection with New Smithville Highway when a Chevy Trailblazer, going eastbound on the Bypass, approached the intersection and struck Williams. The THP said the driver of the Trailblazer didn’t see the pedestrian until the last second and swerved trying to avoid hitting him.
Williams was taken by ambulance to the Warren County Airport, from which he was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
