Warren County native and Country Music star Dottie West will finally be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees were announced Tuesday. Other inductees are Johnny Gimble and Ricky Skaggs.
Dottie West was born Dorothy Marie Marsh in 1932 near McMinnville. She began her music career by singing with a local band in high school. She received her first recording contract in 1959 and was the first female artist in Country Music history to win a Grammy. Along with her many solo hits, she also recorded many hit songs with duet partners, such as Kenny Rogers and Jim Reeves.
Dottie West died in 1991 from injuries suffered in a car crash while on her way to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.
