Monday House Fire

McMinnville firefighters worked feverishly Monday morning to rescue a woman who was trapped on the second floor of a burning house on Oak Street.
McMinnville Fire Chief Kendall Mayfield said firefighters arrived on the scene and were told the woman was still in the house, which by then was enveloped in smoke. Firefighters made their way through an upstairs window and finally found the woman on the other side of the house.
The 60 year old woman was taken to an ambulance and was in cardiac arrest when EMS personnel began efforts to resuscitate her. Chief Mayfield said she was expected to be airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville for further treatment. Her name was not released.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
