A new poll from Middle Tennessee State University says opinions on one of the biggest conservative issues may be shifting.
MTSU conducted a scientifically valid telephone poll of 600 randomly selected registered Tennessee voters from March 22-29. Respondents were asked, “In general, do you think laws covering the sale of guns should be made more strict, less strict, or kept as they are now”?
58 percent answered “more strict” up 24 points from 34 percent in 2016, the last time the MTSU poll included the question.
Six percent answered “Less strict,” down 11 points from 17 percent in 2016. 33 percent answered, “Kept as they are now,” down 11 points from 44 percent in 2016. The rest said they didn’t know or declined to answer the question.
