The McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen Tuesday night voted to advertise the position of a full-time City Administrator. Mayor Jimmy Haley proposed the measure and the vote was 5-2 in favor of the proposal.
This comes four years after Bill Brock was named interim City Administrator. A point of contention four years ago was Brock’s lack of a four-year college degree, which was listed as a requirement for one to be considered for the job. Tuesday night the board voted unanimously to change the verbiage indicate a candidate for the job should have a four-year college degree or the equivalent in experience or training. This would keep the door open for Brock to apply for the full-time position if he so chooses.
The measure to advertise the position calls upon the Municipal Technical Advisory Service to work with the City in getting the right candidates for the job. The final decision will be made by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
