The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the deceased victim of Thursday’s ambulance crash as Clifton Harville of Crossville. Authorities say Harville was a patient being transported in the back of a White County ambulance when the ambulance collided with a 2014 Dodge Caravan that had pulled into its path. The ambulance flipped and came to rest on its top.
The crash happened at the intersection of Sparta Highway and Bone Cave Road.
The paramedic who was traveling in the back of the ambulance was identified as John Hurd. He was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital. The ambulance driver, Ethan Deweese, was treated for minor injuries and released from River Park Hospital.
The driver of the Caravan, 63 year old Carol Simpson, was not injured. Authorities said she faces felony charges, including vehicular homicide.
