A proposal to raise Warren County’s property tax rate by 14 cents was rejected by the County Commission Monday night at the Commission’s monthly meeting. Outgoing Commissioner David Rhea proposed the increase to $2.10, pointing out various needs of the county. His proposal was defeated by a 20 to 3 vote, after which, commissioners approved the 2018-19 tax rate of $1.96, which is the same as the past several years.
The commission also passed the consolidated county budget and a resolution to make appropriations to certain non-profit organizations.
In other business, the commission approved the resignation of long-time Finance Director Linda Hillis, who has served in that capacity for 22 years. Justin Cotton will replace her as Finance Director.
