The unemployment rate in 57 Tennessee counties improved in July, according to numbers released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Unemployment increased in 19 counties and remained the same in 19.
Warren County’s unemployment rate experienced a slight decrease from 4.9 percent to 4.8. The rate a year ago was 4.5 percent.
White County’s unemployment rate for July was 4.3 percent, down slightly from the June rate of 4.4. The rate a year ago was 4.2 percent.
Van Buren County’s unemployment went from 6.4 to 5.7 percent. Coffee County went from 4.0 percent to 3.9. DeKalb County went from 5.0 percent to 4.9. Grundy County went from 5.7 to 5.6 percent. Cannon County went from 3.9 to 3.8 percent.
Williamson County had the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.9 percent, while Weakley County had the highest at 7.6 percent.
