Teen Charged in Sparta Shooting

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with voluntary manslaughter after a deadly shooting in White County.
It happened at a home on Crossville Highway in Sparta Thursday night.
According to a release, when deputies arrived at the home they discovered the 47-year-old victim dead with a gunshot wound.
During the course of the investigation, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it was determined that a teen who lives at the home was responsible for the man’s shooting death. The victim’s name has not been released.
The 14-year-old was taken into custody and is being held in juvenile detention. The TBI has not released his identity.
He is scheduled to appear in juvenile court Monday.
