A standoff on a bluff overlooking the Collins River ended peacefully Wednesday evening with the arrest of a man for whom authorities had outstanding warrants.
Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny said 35 year old Chris Johnson was wanted for domestic assault in connection with an incident Tuesday night. When a deputy went to his residence, Johnson fled on foot to a bluff and threatened to jump into the frigid water of the Collins River. After a standoff that lasted nearly four hours, McMinnville Police negotiator Bill Davis was able to convince Johnson to give himself up.
Johnson faces charges of evading arrest, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, and domestic assault.
