Delay Granted in Inmate's Execution

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has granted a delay in the execution planned Thursday night for Tennessee death row inmate Edmund Zagorski.
Zagorski was sentenced in the 1983 killings of two men during a drug deal and was set to be executed by lethal injection. Zagorski had requested to be executed by electric chair, but that request was denied.
The appeals court ruled that there are enough questions about Zagorski’s representation at trial to grant a stay.
A separate request for a stay is pending in the U.S. Supreme Court.
